In 1947, World War II Army Airborne Veteran Bruno Mueller began our business fresh out of the service, known at the time as Sarge's Paintbrush. After serving in Europe as a Paratrooper fighting in The Battle of The Bulge, Bruno began his own business part-time as a painter while also working as a full-time foundry worker at The Falk Corporation in Milwaukee, WI. Over the years, he slowly added the services we offer today becoming a full-service General Contractor in home building, additions, decks, roofing, siding, etc. After Bruno passed in 2014, his son-in-law, Jim Coffee, a Marine Sargent who served in Vietnam, acquired the business and put his son Steve, also a Marine, in charge of operations. The name of Sarge's Paintbrush was changed to Leathernecks Building and Remodeling due to the transformation into the building industry to better represent the vast array of construction services we provide as a company and to complement Jim and Steve's service in The Marine Corps, utilizing one of the many terms for Marines (Leathernecks).
